  • It should be noted that due to the location/access of the accommodation, it would not be suitable for permanent wheelchair users or people with very restricted mobility.
  • With the safety of guests in mind it is suggested that the cottage may only be suitable for guests who have a visual, hearing or mobility impairment if they are accompanied. Regrettably, at the moment we only have standard smoke detectors and are therefore not able to offer the higher level of warning systems (e.g., flashing or vibrating alarms) on which a guest with such impairments would rely if travelling alone.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

  • From the road Boat House Lodge is accessed by electric gates, these will generally be open in anticipation of your arrival. However, if the gates are closed on arrival, access can be gained by use of the intercom panel situated on the right gate pillar. The intercom system is approx. 1.5m from the ground. The gates and intercom system are illuminated during the hours of darkness.
  • There is a gravel driveway which descends to the accommodation, again this is lit during the hours of darkness. The secure parking is also gravel and is signed, illuminated and easily accessible.
  • Access to the Lodge is via a slabbed staircase, with metal balustrade and handrail. There are 20 steps in total, the riser of each being 15cms and the depth 34cms. The staircase is illuminated from dusk until dawn automatically.
  • Due to the location/access of the accommodation, it would not be suitable for permanent wheelchair users or people with very restricted mobility.
  • The keys for the cottage will be handed over by us, and will personally welcome you to the cottage, explain how everything works and answer any questions you may have.
